Public speaking

I chair conferences and events for a range of organisations, and lecture regularly on journalism at universities and schools, using TV and new media clips for lively and engaging talks, tailored to each class or audience.

For more information email me via the contacts page.

Institutions include: The London School of Economics, SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) London Metropolitan University, Berlin Brandenburg University, Sheffield Hallam University, Mulberry Girls’ School and Lambeth Academy in London.

I do free public speaking and chair events for charities, which have included St Alban’s Cathedral Trust, Teach First, the deafblind charity Sense, Refugee Action, the Fawcett Society, Amnesty International, Action Aid UK, the Hopscotch Asian Women’s Centre, the  Kiran women’s refuge in Leytonstone, and at Downview Women’s Prison in Surrey.

My private conference and presentation work ranges across a broad range of subjects from cultural discussions and book launches with directors, authors, actors and historians for the Southbank Centre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the British Film Institute to public policy – for the Home Office, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for International Development and the Cabinet Office, and business – on digital innovation and implementing new anti discrimination rules in the workplace. Below is my interview with Ian Watmore on controversial cost cutting plans for government suppliers, the year before he became permanent secretary of the Cabinet Office.

I presented the Civil Service Awards for the Cabinet Office for the 5 years from their inception till 2010. I interviewed the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and chaired a well received Q & A about plans to slash jobs and pensions at Civil Service Live.
